Improvised ambulatory performance in residencies for the elderly

MOUVEMENT DE PASSAGE (Passing Movement) integrates dance into the lives of CHSLD (residential and long-term care centre) residents in the form of an improvised ambulatory performance. A musician and several dancers travel from room to room to meet those who live there, including those who have less autonomy or are reaching the end of life and for whom participation in regular activities at the centre is more difficult.

The music and dance performed are entirely improvised, inspired by the encounter with residents themselves and with their living environment. This meeting is therefore highly personal. The artists listen to the residents’ rhythm and creativity, meet them where they are, interact with them.

​

Art, as a vehicle of emotions and sharing, can thus be put to the service of residents’ wellness by offering a creative experience integrated with their daily lives.
